Success Story – Nov – Jeffrey Davis
Mr. Jeffrey Davis was admitted to Calhoun Convalescent Center with a history of Peripheral Vascular Disease which caused an amputation to his left lower extremity. After working diligently with physical and occupational therapy, he was able to bath and dress himself, transfer, and walk with a walker. Before leaving Calhoun Convalescent Center, Mr. Jeffrey’s lower extremity was able to heal, and he was able to start with his new prosthetic management.
Success Story – Oct – David Miller
Mr. David Miller was admitted to Calhoun Convalescent Center due to congestive heart failure and multiple wounds that prohibited him from returning home with his family. Due to the wound on his heels, Mr. David was unable to put much pressure on his feet, which kept him from walking initially. After working with physical and occupational therapy, Mr. Miller was able to perform activities of daily living, bed mobility, transfers, and walk with a rolling walker with minimal assistance after strengthening.
Success Story – Sept – Thelma Thompson
Ms. Thelma Thompson came to stay at Calhoun Convalescent Center after a decline from a recent hospitalization which caused her to be weak, unable to perform transfers and ambulate due to wounds on bi-lateral heels. After working with therapy and wearing off-loading shoes, Ms. Thelma’s heel issues were resolved, and she was able to stand and walk independently without an assistive device.
Success Story – Aug – Janice Still
Ms. Janice Still admitted to Calhoun Convalescent Center after recent hospitalization from a CVA and pacemaker placement. Upon discharge from hospital, she was unable to perform activities of daily living and her family was concerned about Ms. Janice continuing to have falls at home.
After Ms. Still diligently participated in all therapy disciplines and focused on safety awareness, activities of daily living, balance, and gait, she was able to ambulate throughout facility with a rolling walker with supervision due to visual deficits and adapt to her environment to decrease falls.
Success Story – July – Dorothy Oliver
Ms. Dorothy Oliver was admitted to Calhoun Convalescent Center due to hospitalization for a recent fall, leaving her with decreased mobility and knee pain. Ms. Oliver’s goal with us was to progress to her prior level of function of independence with all daily living tasks and mobility. After weeks of progressive therapy, Ms. Oliver received good news of her planned discharge home with family support and Home Health services.
Success Story – June – Annie Hill
Ms. Annie Hill was admitted to Calhoun Convalescent Center with failure to thrive and acute metabolic encephalopathy. After several weeks of dedicated physical and occupational therapy, Ms. Hill’s sacral wound has healed completely with the help of nursing.
